District 33 board member
is up to his old tricks again

If you've been to a handful
of meetings in West Chicago, you've probably met Bob Lemon. He wears his long, gray hair
in a ponytail, and he's usually clutching a cup of coffee.
You can find him at city council and plan
commission meetings. But rarely is he more relaxed than at West Chicago Elementary
District 33 meetings, where he sits on the board.
There, he is quick with witty retorts and ire
for state lawmakers.
He recently suggested to
board President Barbara Toney that they protest together on the steps of the Capitol.
"We could get stoned," he said
wryly.
"You do mean we could get stones thrown
at us," she said, not missing a beat. "There are two reporters in the audience
tonight."
Lemon responded with a sly smile as he poured
himself yet another cup of coffee from his Thermos. The double-entendre wasn't lost on
this consummate joker.
And yes, Lemon did mean rocks.
